responsible for driving the adoption of data driven decision making
across Xero - for both our internal users and our global audience
of small business owners, bookkeepers and accountants. We create,
manage and deliver a wide range of data services and products
including core reporting, key data dimensions, extensible and
scalable analytical data processing and storage facilities, machine
learning frameworks and API driven prediction services. We are the
center of expertise for data architecture, data modelling, machine
learning, ethical data usage and artificial intelligence service
design. We also lead the work to raise the data and AI literacy
levels across Xero.What you'll do/Bring with you
- Xero views the application of intelligent, data-driven products
and services at scale as a key competitive advantage for our

- You will have a Master's or PHD in a quantitative discipline
such as Statistics, Engineering, Sciences, or equivalent practical
experience and at least 9 years relevant work experience and 3
years managing teams.
- As a Data Science Group Manager you will work with colleagues
in the Product, Engineering, and Design team and subject matter
experts from across the business to refine tough problems that can
be solved with the application of scientific thinking, algorithms
and analytical data processing.

- As part of a cross-functional team including engineers,
designers and product owners you will build and operate beautiful,

- Immerse yourself in Xero's data, wrangling often complex and
messy data and contribute to our shared understanding of the value
contained in our data stores
- Continually provide feedback on how we can improve the quality
of our data and its coverage of our core products/services
- Apply sound scientific methods (i.e. hypothesis generation,
experimentation, analysis) to drive product development (e.g. model
development, model evaluation, POC design)Problem Definition
- Coach and lead a team of data scientists and analysts in order
to deliver value to our customers
- Own the sizing of problems and prioritization of the business
domain
- Lead in hypothesis driven experimentation and deliver
measurable impact through holdouts
- Adopt a customer-focused mindset to link applied research to
ethics and tangible real-world outcomes for our
customersEngineering
- Work to achieve and maintain high personal coding standards,
collaborating with engineers to produce robust and reproducible
code aligned with delivering high-quality products
- Together with engineers, maintain and operate the end-to-end
pipelines that support data-intensive applications at Xero.Culture

- Lead, develop and grow a high performing team through coaching,
mentoring and setting a clear direction by connecting the work they
do to the data and Xero's strategic objectives.
- Support each member of your team to identify, grow and develop
engineering capabilities and overall personal development and work

performing cross functional leadership team at the pod level.
